Combine your visit with a trip to Spynie Palace. You can get a ticket which allows entry to both sites for a small additional fee. The coast is just a short drive north. My recommendation is to visit Lossiemouth East Beach after you’ve seen the cathedral. This part of Scotland is renowned for its whisky.

Moray Speyside and Scotland’s PastDiscover Scotland’s past by visiting the wee village of Burghead, where a Pictish fort stands as a testament to times gone by. Or, explore the town of Elgin, a lively community that sits between the cities of Inverness and Aberdeen. I was keen to go back on my most recent visit to Moray to get a proper look at the 7m tall Pictish slab which is the tallest and most complex piece of medieval sculpture in Scotland. It currently stands on what is thought to be its original location which seems pretty odd as it is positioned on a small area of grass between a busy road and houses.

For those of you exploring the Moray Coast you might come across Castle Findlater and just consider Burghead, a peaceful coastal village on the shores of the Moray Firth in the north east Scotland. Come and visit the Burghead Visitor Centre taking visitors through the history of the area from about 400AD to the present time, learn about the Pictish Burghhead Fort, visit the Dark Age Burghead Well.. The Burning of the Clavie, a fire festival unique to Burghead, which greets the New Year on 11 A visit to the Outer Hebrides is an otherworldly dip into Scotland’s remote edge of the world island culture and Harris and Lewis are my favourites of the Western Islands. Visit the Callanish Stones , the Isle of Harris Distillery and explore Harris’s incredible beaches including Seilebost and one of the best views in Scotland across to the famous Luskintyre.

Saying that, the climate is relatively mild, so you can (mostly) expect decent conditions no matter what time of year you visit. VISIT MORAY.
